MT. PLEASANT, Mich. (97.1 The Ticket) -- Baseball season is just around the corner. Tigers pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training on Tuesday and college baseball programs around the country are ready to start games this week.

Central Michigan opens its season in Troy, Alabama on Friday, but a couple Chippewas players just couldn't wait to get on the diamond.

Even with it frozen over solid, these players got some reps in on skates -- fielding ground balls, making diving stops, sliding into third base. It's all just part of the game.

It may not be on the same level as Canadians getting out of their cars in a traffic jam to pass the puck around on the highway, but these Chippewas were getting innovative to play ball. Surely, they haven't been able to get on an outdoor field all winter and just ahead of next week's season opener, they just couldn't wait.

Does this get you excited for baseball season?
