Devin Marrero passed former Tiger Alex Avila.

LOS ANGELES (97.1 The Ticket) - Devin Marrero appeared to have his first home run in a Diamondbacks uniform Saturday night when he hit a ball that just barely cleared the left-center field wall at Dodger Stadium with runners at first and second base, giving the D-backs a 6-1 lead in the fourth inning.

While Marrero was in his home run trot, former Tigers catcher Alex Avila was unsure whether the ball cleared the wall. Replay showed that while Marrero was rounding first base, he advanced past Avila. Marrero was ruled out, and he was credited with a two-run single.

Baseball rules state that a runner is ruled out if he passes another runner on the base paths. While Marrero was close to putting on the brakes in time to stay behind Avila, replay officials in New York determined that he did in fact go ahead of him.

One inning later, AJ Pollock hit a home run that did not need to be reviewed. It went 386 feet with an exit velocity of 106 mph, according to Statcast.
