LOS ANGELES (97.1 THE TICKET) -- The sun is shining just a little brighter for former Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus today.

The Los Angeles Angels announcing on Twitter that Brad is their new man.

"The Angels are happy to welcome Brad Ausmus as the new Manager!"

After managing the Tigers from 2014-2017, Ausmus, 49, spent the 2018 season as a special assistant to the general manager of the Angels. He's a candidate to replace Mike Scioscia in the dugout, who stepped down in September after 19 years at the helm.

Ausmus was a rookie manager in 2014 when the Tigers hired him to replace Jim Leyland. He took over a team that had been to the ALCS each of the prior three seasons, but failed to win a playoff game over the next four years.

He finished with a record of 314-332.
