DETROIT (97.1 The Ticket) -- Less than two full seasons in, Little Caesars Arena has reportedly decided to change the color of its seats, going from eye-popping red to black.

The arena, which opened last fall, was initially slated to just be the home of the Red Wings, and many called for the seats to be red, matching that of their former home, Joe Louis Arena. The Pistons came into the fold in November 2016, announcing they would be moving downtown as well.

While the red seats definitely catch the eye and have a certain charm to them, part-way through last year's NBA season, fans began seeing black, Art Van-sponsored seat covers in certain sections of the arena, apparently to take away from the jarring red color.

The new seats will be installed in increments throughout the year and be permanent for both the Pistons and Red Wings, according to the Detroit News's Rod Beard.

While specifics of the move and what sparked it have yet to be disclosed, it appears the arena will have an abundance of red seats with no home on their hands. It is unclear what will be done with the seats.
