He arrived as a heralded recruit in 2017.

After two seasons at Michigan, wide receiver Oliver Martin is moving on.

It was reported by 247 Sports on Monday that Martin, who entered the transfer portal last week, is returning home to continue his career at Iowa.

Martin arrived at Michigan as four-star recruit in the class of 2017. He was considered the best player from the state of Iowa, and chose Michigan over the likes of Ohio State, Notre Dame and Michigan State -- as well as his hometown Hawkeyes.

Also an accomplished swimmer in high school, Martin memorably announced his commitment by jumping into a pool with Jim Harbaugh.

But the hype went mostly unfulfilled.

Martin didn't play as a freshman and tallied just 11 catches in 13 games as a sophomore. It didn't help his cause that he was part of a loaded wide receivers class that also featured Donovan Peoples-Jones, Tarik Black and Nico Collins.

To supplement that trio in 2019, Michigan brings in four-star receivers Cornelius Johnson, Giles Jackson and early enrollee Mike Sainristil.
