Tom Izzo just pulled off the recruiting coup of his career.

A week after getting a commitment from the No. 1 player in the class of 2022 Emoni Bates, Michigan State landed another five star in 2021 SG Max Christie. And with Bates reportedly reclassifying, the pair could arrive in East Lansing together.

What's more, Christie chose Michigan State over two of its Big Ten rivals in Ohio State and Purdue. Villanova and Virginia comprised the rest of his final five.

Christie is the top-ranked shooting guard and the No. 12-ranked player overall in his class, according to 247 Sports. He said in his announcement Tuesday that Michigan State felt like home the first time he took a visit.

A rising senior at Rolling Meadows High School in Illinois, Christie also made it clear he doesn't intend to reclassify or turn pro before attending college.

"I'm 100 percent committed to Michigan State," he said.

Assuming Bates joins him in the Spartans' 2021 recruiting class, which also features four-star PG Pierre Brooks, Michigan State will likely have the best duo of freshmen in the country.
