Jonathan Ericsson isn't done yet.

The veteran defenseman was recalled by the Red Wings on Thursday in the wake of an injury to Patrik Nemeth, a few weeks after the Wings waived him and then sent him to Grand Rapids.

Ericsson, 35, has yet to play for Detroit this season due to a hip and back injuries that kept him out the first few weeks. But he apparently recovered his game in the AHL and could make his 2019-20 debut Thursday night against the Kings. He posted two assists and a plus-four rating over 10 games with the Griffins.

Nemeth, meanwhile, was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with an illness. The 27-year-old, who signed a two-year, $6 million deal with the Wings this summer, has four points and a plus-two rating through 19 games. He's the team's only defenseman with a positive plus-minus.

It's likely the final season of Ericsson's career. His contract expires at the end of 2019-20, and his game has deteriorated (along with his health) since he signed a six-year, $25.5 million extension in 2013.

But he'll get at least a few more shots before it's all said and done.
