Another running back could be moving on from Michigan State.

Sophomore La'darius Jefferson has entered the transfer portal, according to Rainer Sabin of the Free Press. This comes a week after junior Connor Heyward did the same

That means Michigan State's backfield is down two of its top three players from the start of the season. Redshirt freshman Elijah Collins, who took over the lead role in the second game of the season, is the only one left.

Jefferson began the year as the primary backup to Heyward, taking 12 carries for 17 yards over the first two games. But he's gotten just seven carries in four games since, including one in Michigan State's loss to Ohio State last Saturday.

A three-star recruit from Muskegon in 2018, Jefferson has a total of 25 yards on 19 carries this season, an average of just 1.3 yards per attempt. He does have two touchdowns.

He had this to say on Twitter Tuesday afternoon:

With Jefferson and Heyward out of the picture, true freshman Anthony Williams Jr. figures to get more work. He has 50 yards on 19 carries this year.

Collins leads the way for Michigan State's backfield, with 476 yards and three touchdowns on 90 carries.
