Because he is asymptomatic, Coleman can return to the field either 10 days from Wednesday or five days from Wednesday if he tests negative twice within a 24-hour window. The 27-year-old is one of Detroit's starting cornerbacks.

Coleman's positive test comes after the Lions placed five players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, including Kenny Golladay and T.J. Hockenson. Detroit has the most players in the NFL sidelined due to the virus.

Lions DT John Atkins opted out of the 2020 season Wednesday due to concerns about COVID-19.
