Picking This Week's Best College Basketball Games Against The Spread

Wojo, Burchie and Beery offer their picks of the week.

97.1 The Ticket -- We're five weeks out from the start of the NCAA Tournament, and we're heating up the college basketball talk and rolling out the bracketology predictions.

The Ticket's Bob Wojnowski, Will Burchfield and Kyle Beery took to Facebook Thursday to talk about the projected bracket and pick against the spread for this weekend's biggest games.

We'll be picking games each week and keeping a running score throughout the rest of the season, with bragging rights -- and perhaps more -- on the line.

Here's a look at this weekend's predictions. Note: Sportsbooks typically do not release point spreads this far in advance, so we're using score projections from KenPom.com

No. 22 Illinois @ Rutgers -- Saturday, 4 p.m., Big Ten Network

Kofi Cockburn and the Illini are looking to put a halt to a three-game skid, but in order to do so, they'll have to go into The RAC -- where no road team has been able to win this season.

No. 14 West Virginia @ No. 1 Baylor -- Saturday, 4 p.m., ESPN+

The marquee game of the weekend features an important showdown in the Big 12 between two of the country's best defenses. The Bears will look to extend their winning streak to 22 games and fortify their case for No. 1 overall seed.

No. 9 Maryland @ Michigan State -- Saturday, 6 p.m., ESPN

ESPN's College GameDay will be in East Lansing for a huge Big Ten matchup between two of the conference's top teams. The Spartans, decked out in throwbacks from the 2000 national championship, will look to build on its thrilling win over Illinois on Tuesday.

KenPom projection: Michigan State (-3)

  • Wojo: Maryland to cover (MSU to win)
  • Burchie: MSU to cover
  • Beery: MSU to cover

Indiana @ Michigan -- Sunday, 1 p.m., ESPN

After dropping four in a row, the Wolverines have won four of their last five. Indiana, meanwhile is mired in its own four-game losing streak and looking for all sorts of help to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive.
