97.1 The Ticket -- Red Wings forward Brendan Perlini left Tuesday night's game against the Sabres after taking a skate to the face.

Perlini had just flipped the puck into the Detroit zone when he collided with Buffalo's Henri Jokiharju. As the two went down to the ice, Jokiharju's skate came up and hit Perlini in the face.

Perlini was down on the ice for several minutes before being helped off by trainers.

The team later announced Perlini suffered a deep laceration to his nose and was receiving stitches from team doctors in Buffalo.

Detroit traded for the 23-year-old winger back in October, sending 19-year-old prospect Alec Regula to Chicago in exchange. He has a goal and two assists through 30 games with the Wings this season.

The Sabres went on to beat the Red Wings 3-2.
