Notre Dame Sports Pinstripe Uniforms At Yankee Stadium [PHOTOS]

It would be sacrilege to play a game in Yankee Stadium without pinstripes, right?

NEW YORK (97.1 The Ticket) -- It would be complete sports sacrilege for the "home team" not to wear pinstripes at Yankee Stadium, right?

Notre Dame thought so, at least.

The No. 3 Fighting Irish had a huge showdown against No. 12 Syracuse Saturday and sported special alternate uniforms as they always do for their annual Shamrock Series game.

They busted out navy jerseys with pinstripes on the sleeves and pants, with matte blue helmets and a "ND" logo inside a white circle.

Social media was pretty adamantly against the look for the Irish.

The Irish have held a Shamrock Series game every year except last, since 2009. They did not wear a special uniform in the inaugural game against Washington State in San Antonio, but have thrown on some alternate threads every year since.

The Irish were beating the Orange in convincing fashion late in the second half, moving one step closer to an undefeated regular season and a spot in the College Football Playoff.

What did you think of their Yankees-inspired uniforms?
