QB Nathan Peterman Works Out For Lions After Being Cut By Bills: Report

It's a puzzling bit of news, to say the least.

November 17, 2018 - 4:56 pm

Nathan Peterman was cut by the last-place Bills this week after throwing seven interceptions, one touchdown and compiling an NFL-worst 30.7 passer rating in four games. On Saturday he worked out for the Lions.

That's according to ESPN's Field Yates, who notes the workout was Peterman's first since becoming a free agent on Wednesday.

The Lions' interest in Peterman is puzzling, to say the least. Matthew Stafford is healthy midway through the season, though not having his best year, and so is backup Matt Cassel. Detroit also has Jake Rudock on the practice squad.

And that's before considering Peterman's terrible numbers -- which aren't limited to this season. Over eight career games, Peterman has completed barely 50 percent of his throws for three touchdowns and 12 interceptions. His passer rating is 32.5.

But there he was on Saturday, working out for the Lions. For what it's worth, they visit Peterman's former team in Week 15.

Detroit, last in the NFC North at 3-6, hosts Carolina on Sunday.
