The Detroit Pistons open their 2019-20 season Wednesday evening against the Indiana Pacers -- but will be doing it without Joe Johnson.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Pistons have waived Johnson in favor of Christian Wood and Khyri Thomas.

Wojnarowski continued to say, "Johnson had come to Pistons camp with a non-guaranteed contract. Pistons deciding to use roster spots for Christian Wood and continued development of young guard Khryi Thomas."

Johnson was a seven-time NBA All-Star and was coming from the Big 3 after he dominated on his way to a championship. Johnson was the first Big 3 player to land a NBA deal.

In his last NBA season, Johnson averaged 6.8 points and 3.1 rebounds over 55 games with the Jazz and the Rockets.
