Instead, the Oklahoma City Thunder are trading the veteran guard to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Chris Paul and multiple first-round draft picks, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wojnarowski reports the Thunder will receive first-round picks in 2024 and 2026, while getting pick swaps in 2021 and 2025.

Westbrook will reunite with James Harden, his former teammate in OKC before Harden moved to Houston.

The Thunder have acquired seven additional first-round picks and four pick swaps through 2026 -- all for trades involving Chris Paul and Paul George, who they traded to the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this offseason.

Many Pistons fans were holding out hope Detroit would be able to make a blockbuster deal to bring Westbrook to the team, while others were turned off by his massive contract, which has four years remaining, including a player option in the final year worth $47 million.
