Is Steve Yzerman coming back to Detroit?

The Red Wings have called a press conference for 3 p.m. Friday at Little Caesars Arena.

Chris Chelios said nobody outworks Yzerman. The former Red Wings defenseman joined Jamie and Stoney live on-air to give his reaction to the news. Listen to the full interview in the Jamie and Stoney Mornings podcast.

Team Owner Chris Ilitch, current General Manager Ken Holland and Hall of Famer Steve Yzerman are all expected in attendance.

According multiple reports, Yzerman will be named GM while Holland will become the team's senior vice president after being its general manager for two-plus decades.

When Yzerman stepped down as GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning in September, it was reported that he told the team he would be "going home to Detroit." Looks like that rumor might have been true.

Yzerman's contract with the Lightning expired when they were eliminated in the first round of the NHL playoffs earlier this week by Columbus after tying a league record with 62 wins.

Yzerman was a captain for a league-record 20 seasons in Detroit.
