A video released by TMZ Sports on Tuesday shows the violent altercation that took place between Malik McDowell and a Lathrup Village police officer inside a gas station in February.
McDowell, a football star at Michigan State from 2014-16, had been pulled over for suspicion of drunk driving after spinning out in the snow. The cop ordered that he remain in his car, but McDowell, who demanded again and again to speak to a supervisor, instead walked inside the gas station.

That's when the incident turned ugly.

The cop tried several times to restrain the 6'6 McDowell, who ultimately tumbled to the ground as items fell from the shelves. After issuing several warnings, the cop then shot McDowell with his taser -- to almost no effect.

McDowell ripped the prongs from his chest and threw the officer to the ground.

The officer was able to regain control of the situation before backup arrived and McDowell was put in handcuffs.

McDowell has a pre-trial hearing in Oakland County Court scheduled for 1 p.m. on July 24.

He's facing charges of operating while intoxicated, two counts of resisting/obstructing/assaulting two police officers and driving while his license was suspended. He's also charged with receiving and concealing a stolen car stemming from an incident in April

A second-round pick of the Seahawks in 2017, McDowell was released this offseason after never playing a game. He was undone by various injuries, the most significant of which came in an ATV accident before his rookie season.

The Seahawks sued McDowell in May, claiming he owes them about $800,000 in bonus money from the four-year, $6.95 million contract he signed with the team in 2017.

McDowell, 23, had a free agent visit with the Cowboys this offseason but never received an offer.
