OAKLAND (AP/97.1 The Ticket) -- Klay Thompson scored 35 points, the Warriors held James Harden down in the second half, and Golden State rallied from an early 17-point deficit to stave off elimination with a 115-86 victory over the Houston Rockets on Saturday night to force a deciding Game 7 in the Western Conference finals.

Thompson was on fire from distance, making 9-of-14 three-pointers. The Warriors shot 42 percent (16-for-38) from behind the line.

Stephen Curry added 29 points and five 3s on a night Harden dazzled for long stretches with 32 points, nine assists and seven rebounds while backcourt mate Chris Paul sat out sidelined by a strained right hamstring.

This is the first year since 1979 that both Conference Finals reached Game 7. The Washington Bullets beat the San Antonio Spurs in the Eastern Conference Finals, while the Seattle SuperSonics beat the Phoenix Suns in the West, en route to winning their first and only title in franchise history.

The series shifts back to Houston for the decisive game Monday night, following Sunday's Game 7 between Cleveland and Boston in the East.
